The Lelit Kate espresso coffee machine is a single boiler machine with an in-built coffee grinder designed and manufactured by Lelit coffee machines in Italy. Despite being just 33.5cm wide, Kate has a commercial 58mm group and plenty of power to make consecutive espressos and steam milk for cappuccinos and lattes. With a brushed stainless steel cabinet and a heat-up time of just 10 minutes, this is the ideal machine for cafe-quality coffee at home.
Brew pressure gauge
The brew pressure gauge provides immediate feedback on the pressure in the brew head, allowing you to make changes to your coffee grind to achieve optimal results. With 16 grams of ground coffee in your double filter basket, aim for 32 - 40 grams of espresso out in 25 - 30 sec. The pressure gauge should be in the middle of the green zone while your shot is pouring. If the pressure is too high, your grind is too fine. If the pressure is too low, your grind is too coarse.
Over Pressure Valve
An OPV (Overpressure valve) limits the group head pressure for optimal extraction so that bitter coffee does not result from high brew pressure.
Multi-directional steam wand
The steam wand produces a powerful dry steam ideal for texturing milk. The ball joint connection allows you to position the steam wand where you like it.
The new Lelit control centre allows you to program the boiler temperature for coffee, steam and hot water. The system powers the boiler element, maintaining a much more stable temperature than a simple on/off thermostat switch. Stable temperature control is vital for perfect coffee extraction and strong consistent steam pressure. The system also allows you to time your espresso shots, program pre-infusion, monitor the level in the water tank, time your coffee grind and clean the machine with an automatic backflush program.
